Edward Thomas, LMSW, BCD
Edward has over 20 years of experience providing mental health services to individuals, couples, families, and communities. His experience has included extensive exposure to diverse populations during 12 years of service in the U.S Army, time as a PTSD/Trauma counselor with Veteran Affairs Healthcare System, and during his work within collegiate mental health.
Treatment Philosophy and Focus
Edward embraces a strengths-based holistic approach to therapy with a focus on improving internal resilience and shaping of new strategies to achieve the client’s desired goals or objectives. Often, this will include components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and/or mindfulness practice. His clinical interests target the impact of trauma on individuals and family.
Education and Experience
Edward earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University and attained his Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Edward has specialized training in the leading trauma-focused therapies to include: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (CBCT-P).
