Karen has been working in the mental health field for over 30 years, in a variety of mental health and substance abuse settings. She has created a vision of service delivery in which she assures appropriate and highly professional care is delivered at all times to any and all patients at the practice.
Treatment Philosophy & Focus
Karen’s treatment philosophy includes a holistic and humanistic approach and includes respect for all areas of a person’s life. She recognizes that individuals and families seeking counseling are often in sensitive and challenging situations. Karen emphasizes cognitive behavioral therapy treatment approaches. This treatment helps patients to address how they perceive and understand their thoughts and behaviors. This treatment format encourages patients to help themselves become empowered and feel more in control of their daily lives. Building self esteem and managing relationships more effectively helps patients to move forward in their lives.
Education & Experience
Karen earned her BA in Criminal Justice and Psychology and her Masters in Social Work from Michigan State University. She has experience providing treatment in addictions, and most mental health issues.
She works with individuals ages 16 and up and families. She has experience in most issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, health problems, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, divorce, workplace stress, grief and loss and many others.
