Mark has worked with a variety of diverse populations and backgrounds. He has experience counseling children, teens, and adults. Mark specializes in gambling addiction and substance use relapse prevention. He has also served as lead therapist for an intensive outpatient substance abuse program.

Treatment Philosophy & Focus

Mark works to create an environment that feels warm and supportive for each person. He believes the relationship between the client and their therapist is a true measure of how helpful the counseling experience will be for an individual. His goal is to guide and empower clients to make important and meaningful changes in their lives primarily using the methods of strength based and person-centered talk therapy to achieve these outcomes. He believes everyone has the capacity to tap into the intuitive parts of themselves and use that wisdom to improve their lives.

Education & Experience

Mark received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor is Psychology from Illinois State University. He then went on to earn his Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Grand Valley State University. Mark has also additional specialized training in treating gambling addictions.
