Treatment Philosophy & Focus

Michael applies a humanistic approach to counseling. Michael utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy treatment approaches. He believes that psychological distress can be resolved through understanding the impacts that our thoughts and feelings can have on our different life roles. He believes that considering and clarifying values is an important aspect when determining how we make life choices and that though the counseling process, these values can be clarified and more firmly adhered to.

Education & Experience

Michael received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in Criminal Justice and his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Michael has worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, residential treatment facility for youth, as well as in the school setting as a School Counselor. Michael has a background in providing group, family, and individual counseling services.
