Shonda has a history of working with a wide range of populations in various mental health settings. She has been in the field for 10 years, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Treatment Philosophy & Focus

Shonda believes that each individual is unique and the expert on themselves and applies a person centered process to identifying goals and treatment focus. Shonda knows that seeking therapy can be scary and challenging for some, and believes in meeting an individual where they are at. She employs a systems approach, looking at how a person’s environment and the people around them impact the individual. Shonda utilizes evidenced based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and strongly believes in an empowering, strengths based perspective. She is passionate about collaborating with you to break down barriers and achieve goals.

Education & Experience

Shonda received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Oakland University in 2010 and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Walden University in 2017. She has worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, psychiatric hospitals, home and community based therapy, as well as outpatient clinics.
