Joelle King-Parrish , LPC, RN

Wellness matters. Wellness first.

Joelle is a licensed professional counselor who has worked with individuals, children, pre-teen, adolescents and families for several years. I have specific training in working with couples and relationship issues as well.  I work with all ages, including toddler age children through to adults.

Treatment Philosophy & Focus

Each person is unique. My primary approach to counseling is an integration of person-centered, mindfulness-based and cognitive behavioral therapies. I have expertise in the practice of emotional focused therapy and use it with couples. My approach strives to balance mindful awareness while using patient and therapist collaboration.  The goal of therapy is to help the patient feel better, feel more content, and build healthy solutions in order to continue beyond therapy to help themselves. I assist you in developing coping skills to place in your ‘toolbox’ to use when faced with life challenges. Treatment focuses on changing negative thought patterns to improve behavioral and emotional issues. It is understood that therapy is not an instant fix, but I am eager to assist you in each step of your growth. We partner to address your various needs.

Education & Experience

Before becoming a licensed professional counselor, Joelle was a practicing registered nurse. She started nursing in 1994 in Oncology where she assisted families with loss and grief for 9 years. Joelle used her skills as an RN working in several areas of the hospital giving compassionate quality care.
In 2015, Joelle received her BA in Science and then finished her master’s in counseling at Siena University in 2020. Currently, she is working on becoming certified in couples counseling with training in emotional focused therapy.
