Roberta is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 15 years of experience.  Her patients range in age from 15 years to seniors.   She works with those experiencing grief & loss, survivors of trauma and abuse, and those dealing with betrayal.

Treatment Philosophy & Focus

Roberta considers herself a Catalyst For Change. She believes in the possibility of change and has a solid commitment to facilitating positive transformation in the lives of the patients with whom she works.  Roberta is patient and persistent in her work with people while providing the care and support they require to realize the outcomes they desire.  She is skilled in Brief Insight-Oriented Psychodynamic Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT,  motivational interviewing and person-centered approaches. As an APSATS (The Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) trained specialist, she provides care, support and relational healing for those impacted by sexual addiction, betrayal and relational trauma.  Roberta is a Certified Biblical Counselor for those preferring a faith-based approach.

Education & Experience

Roberta earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, graduating Cum Laude from Wayne State University.  She earned her Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Siena Heights University where she was honored with the Exemplary Student Award.  Roberta practiced as a Clinician for ten years, working with children and adolescents who were diagnosed with disabilities and serious emotional disturbances.   She subsequently transitioned to a position as an Elementary School Counselor and substitute teacher.  For the past several years, Roberta has provided therapeutic treatment  as a Psychotherapist working in a private practice and a family and adolescent center working with individuals and couples with a broad range of issues.  Roberta has completed Level I training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and uses research proven principles when working with couples.  She also specializes in working with partners of persons with problematic sexual behavior and is part of a limited and uniquely qualified group of therapists who are trained in the APSATS Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model.
